Forty-two years ago, in such days, one of the most popular revolutions of the twentieth century won and succeeded in supporting the role and presence of the people in the social and political arena under the leadership of Imam Khomeini, eliminated the authoritarian monarchy and dependent on foreigners and bring a system based on religious democracy to Iranian society.
Iran has one of the oldest human civilizations in history with a progressive system of government.
The people and government of Iran have achieved many scientific, economic and technological achievements in the field of agricultural self-sufficiency in the past four decades, despite the conspiracies and obstacles created by the enemies, including the imposed war, sanctions, economic terrorism and maximum oppressive pressure, Industrial products, new and nano technology, peaceful nuclear energy, etc have been crystallized and the statistics of reputable international institutions indicate the comprehensive development of Iran, especially in the field of science and technology.
Over the past 42 years, the government and people of Iran have proudly proven that wherever there was negotiation based on mutual respect and honorable agreement, it has always respected the treaties and is fully committed to all its requirements, and where it faces maximum oppressive pressure with maximum and heroic resistance, inflicts an unprecedented defeat on the founders of economic terrorism, and wherever he is violated, with unparalleled courage and determination, crushes the enemy and gave the aggressors an unforgettable lesson.
The Islamic Republic of Iran has played an irreplaceable role in ensuring peace, stability and security in the region and the world by heroically sacrificing its lives at the forefront of the fight against the ominous phenomena of terrorism, extremism and drug trafficking by paying a heavy spiritual and material price. In this regard, we cherish the memory of the national and transnational hero of the fight against terrorism and extremism, Martyr Qassem Soleimani, and all the martyrs who sacrificed their lives in this way to ensure peace and security in the region and the world.
The Islamic Republic of Iran, with its proud history of civilization, strategic geographical location, vast natural resources, young and educated manpower, and large market, has a pristine and large capacity to develop and expand economic and trade cooperation in all areas with all countries and friendly country of Tanzania.
The cultural ties between the people of Iran and Tanzania are long and historical, dating back to the presence of Shirazis in Zanzibar and East Africa from 1000 years ago to the 17th century. Thousands of Baluch Iranians have also lived in Tanzania since 150 years ago. The Swahili language has been taught at the University of Tehran for the past 30 years, and Swahili Radio broadcasts news for East Africa. The Swahili language contains about 300 to 400 completely Persian words that are part of the Persian language heritage of the Shirazis in Zanzibar.
Diplomatic relations between the two countries date back to 1982 and the establishment of the Iranian Embassy in Dar es Salaam in 1984. Iran and Tanzania have established many mechanisms to strengthen their friendship over the years, and several political and economic delegations have been exchanged between the two countries. Given the complementary economies of the two countries and the existence of multiple trade capacities, the development of economic relations is one of the most important agendas of the officials of the two countries that must be achieved.
The Islamic Republic of Iran considers Tanzania to be a very important country in East Africa with common ideals, views and interests in various fields and is ready to develop relations with Tanzania based on common interests and desires in all fields with Tanzania.
I and my colleagues at the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Dar es Salaam are proudly ready to make every effort to this end.
