HIGH-RANKING OFFICIALS OF IRAN AND CHINA HAVE A SERIOUS WILL TO PROMOTE LONG-TERM STRATEGIC TIES, REGARDLESS OF INTERNATIONAL DEVELOPMENTS

The President stated that the definite policy of the Islamic Republic of Iran is to develop its long-term strategic relations with China in various fields, saying, “We pursue these strategic relations regardless of international developments and based on mutual political trust, and the successful implementation of the 25-year comprehensive cooperation programme is a priority in this regard”. Speaking in a meeting with General Wei Fenghe, Minister of Defence of the People's Republic of China, Dr Seyyed Ebrahim Raisi stressed that regional and global developments show the value of Iran-China strategic cooperation more than ever, adding, “Unilateralism and hegemony aimed at controlling countries and preventing the formation of a sustainable economic growth in the world, and the confrontation with unilateralism and the establishment of stability and order is possible only through the cooperation of independent and like-minded powers”. Saying that there are suitable grounds for large investments in Iran, the President added, "Iran's unique capabilities in the field of interregional transportation, Iran's capacities in providing the security of various types of energy, as well as regional infrastructure cooperation are serious grounds for cooperation and investment".
Referring to the US unilateral withdrawal from the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), the President said, "The Americans wanted to put the most intense pressure on Iran by violating the JCPOA, but today they officially admit that they have failed miserably in exerting maximum pressure on Iran”.
